Hawaii Tour - Season

This season was like no other!

As our staff team began to think about a theme that would guide our 44th season, one word continued to pop up in our discussions: Breath. Since March 2020, our nation has struggled to breathe. Over 7.5 million people worldwide have been diagnosed with Covid-19, a respiratory illness that literally takes your breath away. In May of 2020, the nation watched the video of George Floyd's death, as he said "I can't breathe," over and over again. Breath became very timely.

As singers, we are aware that breath is the basis of everything we do, and our breath connects us to our bodies, our voices, and to each other. Take a deep breath. Feel your lungs expand. There is nothing in this world closer to you than your breath. Now exhale.

Here’s a wild fact. According to Sam Kean, author of the book “Caesar’s Last Breath,” it takes about two years for the molecules in a single breath to be redistributed across the globe, and astonishingly, the breath you just took includes at least one molecule of every breath ever taken before 2018, two years ago. You just breathed the same air that was Julius Caesar’s last breath, the same air that carried your own first cries as a newborn, the same air that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King exhaled as he spoke the words, "I have a dream." Breath is timeless.

At the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale, we are committed to using this unprecedented year to become better, stronger, and bolder. We are committed to using our breath to sing for all of those who can't sing because they are sick, or because they are oppressed, or because they are afraid. With every breath, we sing for community, connection, understanding, justice, love, peace, the world...and we invite you to sing with us in all the ways you can.

Seasons of Change,
Seasons of Love

june 2021

Join us for an exploration of all the ups and downs of life and how love supports, encourages, and uplifts us through it all.

Beautiful every time of year, yet particularly resplendent in June, attendees of the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale’s spring concert will embark on a gentle journey through the blooming, picturesque valley on the grounds of Glen Eyrie Castle, which was once the home of Colorado Springs’ celebrated founder, General William Palmer. Guiding its audience on both a literal and figurative musical trek, each event will explore the ever-changing seasons of life.

“For a year like no other, we have a concert equally unique to share with the community,”

“We will stroll throughout the beautiful grounds discovering the transitions of life through familiar phrases from the iconic song, ‘Seasons of Love.’“ - Marcia Hendricks, CSCC Executive Director.

Daylights. Sunsets. Midnights. Cups of Coffee. Inches. Miles. Laughter. Strife. Change. Love.

Music lovers of all ages will enjoy a range of choral literature spanning classical art song, well-loved musical theater selections, and world music. Each concert will culminate with a celebratory toast for all to a new season of good health, music, and love. As spring evolves into summer here in the Pikes Peak Region, join the Children’s Chorale in marking this year’s seasonal transformation and celebrating the seasons of life, seasons of change, and seasons of love.

Celebrate

Youth in the Arts

15th Annual Breakfast – At Home Edition

Don’t worry about getting dressed up to join us this year—we’ll see you online for an uplifting concert by the talented young musicians of the Youth Symphony and Children’s Chorale, as well as special messages from our community.

We would rather be with you sharing the live experience of hearing these fantastic kids, but most venues are still under significant capacity restrictions, and our two groups alone max out that capacity! This too shall pass and soon we will be enjoying the beautiful music of these two award-winning organizations in our cherished community venues once again!

We can’t wait for that day, but until then, let’s celebrate youth in the arts...the at home version!!

Note: this event has passed.
